ABSTRACT

Mucormycosis, a dangerous infection caused by Mucorales fungi, has an overall mortality rate of 54 per cent, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Jessy Skaria, an author of the paper and an independent researcher from Houston, Texas, tells SciDev.Net that the unusually high incidence of COVID-19- associated mucormycosis in India was attributed by most physicians and researchers to a combination of SARS-Cov-2 viral infection with diabetes and treatment using steroids. “To establish the role of herbivore dung in the causation of COVID-19-associated mucormycosis, case control studies, genetic (phylogenetic) studies and other aerosol viability analysis of Mucorales spores, post-burning, is critical,” Rodney Rohde, chair and professor of clinical laboratory science at Texas State University, tells SciDev.Net.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the level of education and experience in animal husbandry in terms of waste management on dairy farms in Kosovo during the Covid-19, the case of Gjilan region. It is a descriptive and quantitative study. Random samples were taken in 71 dairy farms in three municipalities of the Gjilan region. Surveys include farms where 5-78 dairy cows are raised. Data on milk production, waste management from detergents, organic manure, cleaning rags, farm certification and water analysis are included. Datas for each farm were recorded during the period of February-April 2020. During these period farmers' reported that the restrictive measures taken as a result of Covid-19 did not have any negative impact on milk production, however, 26.8% of farmers interviewed reported that milk production was reduced. Further, it was observed a major mismanagement of farm waste that was the main focus of the research: 80.3% of farmers stated that compost waste comes out of the farm and is distributed freely in the environment around the farm.

ABSTRACT

During Covid-19 pandemic, the increase in LPG types was 0.6-2.4 million BOE, while in the household sector it was 2.3-6.9 million BOE, so causes LPG import growth ratio to increase by 4.8%/year (BPPT, 2020). Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to suppress LPG imports by increasing the supply of EBT in the household sector with biogas production. The research aims to look at the biogas production modeling system from the resulting cow dung waste. The research method that studies the literature is based on modeling data based on data obtained using Powersim 10. The results showed that LPG demand in 2020 is 2.4 million BOE that could be fulfilled by a biogas source from 9539238.75 kg ~ 0.9 metric tons cow dung waste. This cow dung waste is able to produce 381569.55 m3/kg of methane gas which is equivalent to 0.59 metric tons LPG, savings Rp 690 M;103 million liters gasoline, savings Rp 793 M;64.8 million liters diesel fuel, savings Rp 333.8 M;80 million liters kerosene, savings Rp 1 T;4.53 metric tons wood, savings Rp 4.5 T. This favorable situation must be immediately felt by the community with an estimate of future benefits.
